Daiquiri Tours was founded inspired by the delicious drink of the same name. A daiquiri (pronounced DYE-KI-RI) is a traditional Cuban cocktail made with rum, lime juice and lots of sugar, and shaved ice. This Cuban recipe can now be found around the world as a frozen drink, as well as more exotic flavors such as mango, strawberry and banana. The name, of indigenous origin, is also associated with a beautiful stretch of beach on Cuba’s northern coast and an iron mine in the eastern part of the island. The Daiquiri, invented by an American mining engineer, was one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite drinks! It’s one of ours, too, so we’d love to share the traditional recipe with you! Salud!
Traditional Daiquiri Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces light rum
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1/4 ounce simple syrup or white sugar
Ice (crushed if desired)
How to Make It
Pour the light rum, lime juice and sugar into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes or shaved ice. Shake well.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
